Karen Cheung

Cheung is currently Acting Head of Contemporary Performance, Performing Arts at West Kowloon Cultural District. Between 2004 and 2011, she was Manager, Administrative Director and Producer of the Guangdong Modern Dance Company and the GMDC small theatre. She was Director of Guangdong Dance Festival (2011-2016) and Programming Director of Beijing Dance Festival (2012-2019).

She was appointed Head of China Dance Development of City Contemporary Dance Company in 2017 and launched the biennial City Contemporary Dance Festival. She was one of the initiators of HOTPOT – East Asia Dance Platform, in partnership with Yokohama Dance Collection (Japan) and Seoul International Dance Festival (Korea), which aims to bring international attention to the Asian contemporary dance scene and to promote exchange and collaboration within and beyond the region.
