Miss Shape
Choreographer & Dancer: CHENG I-han
Description
Life is a sentence, and as a woman, the word “shape” exists in my sentence:
Because being in the “right shape” puts me in jeopardy, and being in the “wrong shape” invites ill intentions.
Dance is a journey, and within this journey, I explore solitude: What shape must I take to be free from fear? In my choreography, I utilize popping techniques and pauses to symbolize both the heartbeat and the confrontation of impact.
What lingers from the outside world’s intrusion finds its place within me, as my body convulses and slowly metabolizes them. I strive relentlessly until my heart and body are gracefully intertwined.
Finally, as I turn around and face the world, I deeply comprehend that I am not alone in embarking on this journey.
